Back in 1643, John Carman and Reverend Robert Fordham left a small settlement in Connecticut to negotiate the first real estate transaction between settlers and Native Americans. They returned with a signed compact for 65,000 acres on Nassau County. Eleven generations later, Carman, Callahan & Ingham LLP was founded.
Judge Willis B. Carman, Sr. - The "Judge" - was born in Amityville, 1901. After being part of Farmingdale High School's first graduating class, he attended and graduated from Fordham University, married Marjorie Sosa, and then opened his law practice. He rented a small office in the same building that he would later purchase and
Judge Carman served his community in many ways, including being an elected judge, founder of the Sunrise Federal Savings and Loan Association, member of the board of directors, and the bank's legal counsel for 50 years. He became a real estate expert and diligently maintained his law practice until his death in 1985.

Bill was a 1983 graduate of New York University before earning his law degree at Fordham School of Law in 1989. While serving as Nassau County Deputy Attorney, he gained extensive courtroom experience in personal injury and civil rights litigation. He then became an associate at a prominent Long Island firm where he handled liability, medical malpractice, and product liability cases. In 2004, he joined his father, the late Willis B. Carman Jr., in the family firm. Bill has over 25 years of experience providing professional legal expertise in the community and to his loyal clientele.
